Meckels Scan

Principle:

  • Gastric mucosa traps pertechnetate.

Preparation and Procedure:

  • The patient should be fasted for at least 4 hours (2 hours for children).

  • The imaging procedure takes about 30 minutes.

Comment:

  • The technique only detects diverticulae with significant ectopic gastric mucosa.
